Nell’ultimo periodo i due sono stati paparazzati spesso tra le vie di Milano, ma Stefano De Martino ha spento qualsiasi gossip sul possibile ritorno di fiamma con l’ex moglie. In molti aveva accostato la loro storia alle note di Venditti. Come un amore che non finisce, che fa giri immensi e poi ritorna. Ma non è così.
Il loro riavvicinamento, secondo quanto dichiarato, sarebbe solo legato all’amore che nutrono per Santiago, il loro figlio di 8 anni. Il primogenito di Belen è al centro dei loro pensieri e, quindi, spesso si vedono, ma solo per lui. Per passare del tempo insieme e non far mancare l’affeto dei genitori al piccolo Santiago.
«Siamo due genitori, abbiamo un legame che va al di là di un matrimonio e insieme abbiamo passato mille cose nella vita. Sarebbe strano il contrario, cioè vedere due persone che hanno un figlio e non si incontrano più. Ammetto che per tanto tempo e per mille motivi non ci hanno mai visto assieme, però in una madre e in un padre che magari passano la domenica insieme con il loro bambino io non ci vedo proprio niente di straordinario», ha dichiarato in merito al loro riavvicinamento.
E anche quando gli viene chiesto di giustificare le loro uscite serali senza Santiago, De Martino riesce a gettare acqua sul fuoco: «Un padre e una madre si possono ‘scambiare’ il figlio alle nove di sera o alle nove del mattino. Io vado avanti e indietro da casa sua e lei da casa mia, come tutti i divorziati d’Italia. E la conquista per due genitori separati come noi deve essere proprio quella di andare al di là di un fallimento matrimoniale».
Stefano e Belen sono stati avvistati pure in hotel senza il figlio al seguito, come a cena fuori. Eppure Stefano De Martino, che negli ultimi tempi si è riavvicinato anche ai parenti dell’argentina, parla solo di famiglia: «È la cosa fondamentale. Attorno a essa gira la mia vita. La mia vita è il lavoro, la famiglia, mio figlio, la madre di mio figlio: sapere che stanno bene tutti, sapere che è tutto ok, quello è fondamentale per me. In un’intervista pubblicata di recente da Vogue, Kardashian ha spiegato i motivi che l’hanno spinta a separarsi dal cantante: “Per così tanto tempo, ho fatto ciò che ha reso felici le altre persone. In a first-of-its kind study, researchers at the University of Maryland recorded VR users’ brain activity using electroencephalography (EEG) to better understand and work toward solutions to prevent cybersickness. The research was conducted by Eric Krokos, who received his Ph.D. in computer science in 2018, and Amitabh Varshney, a professor of computer science and dean of UMD’s College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences.
Their study, “Quantifying VR cybersickness using EEG,” was recently published in the journal Virtual Reality.
The term cybersickness derives from motion sickness, but instead of physical movement, it’s the perception of movement in a virtual environment that triggers physical symptoms such as nausea and disorientation. While there are several theories about why it occurs, the lack of a systematic, quantified way of studying cybersickness has hampered progress that could help make VR accessible to a broader population.
Krokos and Varshney are among the first to use EEG — which records brain activity through sensors on the scalp — to measure and quantify cybersickness for VR users. They were able to establish a correlation between the recorded brain activity and self-reported symptoms of their participants. The work provides a new benchmark — helping cognitive psychologists, game developers and physicians as they seek to learn more about cybersickness and how to alleviate it.
“Establishing a strong correlation between cybersickness and EEG-measured brain activity is the first step toward interactively characterizing and mitigating cybersickness, and improving the VR experience for all,” Varshney said.
EEG headsets have been widely used to measure motion sickness, yet prior research on cybersickness has relied on users to accurately recall their symptoms through questionnaires filled out after users have removed their headsets and left the immersive environment.
The UMD researchers said that such methods provide only qualitative data, making it difficult to assess in real time which movements or attributes of the virtual environment are affecting users.
Another complication is that not all people suffer from the same physical symptoms when experiencing cybersickness, and cybersickness may not be the only cause of these symptoms.
Without the existence of a reliable tool to measure and interactively quantify cybersickness, understanding and mitigating it remains a challenge, said Varshney, a leading researcher in immersive technologies and co-director of the Maryland Blended Reality Center.
For the UMD study, participants were fitted with both a VR headset and an EEG recording device, then experienced a minute-long virtual fly-through of a futuristic spaceport. The simulation included quick drops and gyrating turns designed to evoke a moderate degree of cybersickness.
Participants also self-reported their level of discomfort in real time with a joystick. This helped the researchers identify which segments of the fly-through intensified users’ symptoms.

Ziggy Stardust, ou pelo menos seu corpo, era humano, e não alienígena
Apesar do look andrógino, pálido e indumentária espacial, Ziggy Stardust nasceu no planeta terra. Sua missão de enviar a um mundo prestes a acabar graças à escasses de recursos naturais lhe veio em um sonho enviado por seres antimateria de marte, que logo após invadiram seu corpo e o transformaram uma espécie de deus alienígena rockstar.
A inspiração para a sua história veio de astros do rock’a’billy e, sim, Iggy Pop!
Vários artistas, conforme Bowie foi tendo acesso ao longo da vida, serviram de inspiração para a construção da persona Ziggy Stardust, incluindo o rockstar que viria a ser um de seus grandes amigos pela vida, Iggy Pop.
A primeira e maior inspiração foi o cantor rock’a’billy Vince Taylor. Depois de passar anos abusando das substâncias recreativas, lícitas ou não, Taylor teve um surto que o levou a acreditar que não era humano, mas sim “metade deus, metade alienígena”, exatamente a criação da personagem de Bowie.
Outro cantor da época, que ajudou na criação do nome, foi Norman Carl Odam, que se apresentava como Legendary Stardust Cowboy. Gene Vincent também emprestou parte de sua história para a criação de Ziggy. Bowie viu uma de suas apresentações com a perna quebrada depois de um acidente de carro. A forma como ele se apresentava e dançava, graças às restrições de movimento devido à fratura, foram copiadas por Bowie no palco, pois ele achou que tinha “um incrível efeito teatral”.
Iggy Pop também influenciou a criação. Uma amiga de Bowie viu o show dos Stooges nos Estados Unidos e voltou à Inglaterra contando como se impressiou com sua performance catártica no palco. Bowie logo que foi a Nova Iorque correu para ver Iggy Pop e confirmar o que a amiga havia descrito. O que viu ajudou a criar a atitude de Ziggy Stardust.
Bowie já estava no processo de criação da persona quando viu, de dentro do trem, uma alfaiataria de nome Ziggy’s Taylor Shop. Nome mais apropriado, impossível: além de trazer como lembrança o nome de uma das maiores referências de criação (Vince Taylor), Ziggy se parecia com Iggy Pop. Uniu então Ziggy com o nome de outra “parte” do corpo da personagem Stardust (do Legendary Stardust Cowboy) e então sua criação já tinha a alcunha completa. Para arrematar, batizou sua banda e o resultado veio ao mundo como Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars.

Ziggy Stardust é meio japonês
Existe muita coisa da cultura japonesa em nosso querido rockstar marciano. O país fascinava Bowie que não à tua, convidou o estilista Kansai Yamamoto para desenhar sete diferentes modelos de roupa para Ziggy Stardust na segunda metade de sua turnê em 1973. Bowie foi apresentado à Yamamoto por um amigo em comum, Yasuko Hayashi. Até então, as roupas que a banda e a personagem usaram haviam sido co-criadas pelo próprio Bowie e tinha como referência os trajes da gangue Droogs no filme Laranja Mecânica, de Stanely Kubrick.
Outra referência nipônica importante na turnê é o teatro Kabuki, de onde Bowie tirou a inspiração para as maquiagens. O artista conheceu a história das pinturas faciais usadas nos espetáculos japoneses depois de conhecer o ator japonês Bando Tamasaburo, que lhe contou tudo sobre o assunto. Durante as turnês, as sessões de maquiagem para o show levavam duas horas e foi somente nas últimas aspresentações que Bowie adotou o icônico raio na face, mundialmente conhecida na capa do disco Alladin Sane, o segundo e último da personagem Ziggy Stardust.

Ziggy Stardust projetou o mullet para o mundo
O inesquecível mullet, aquele corte caipira americano que tem franjas e laterais curtas com a parte de traz do cabelo comprida, veio à Bowie enquanto folheava duas revistas de moda diferentes. Em páginas da Honey, viu uma modelo vestindo roupas de Kansai Yamamoto (olha o Japão aí de novo). Na Vogue, um ensaio especial de cortes de cabelo com modelos francesas completou a ideia.
O sucesso de Ziggy Stardust transformou o corte de cabelo em uma verdadeira febre mundial. Assim como o corte usado por Lady Di foi considerado “o cabelo dos anos 80”, o mullet de Bowie é o dos anos 70. Para onde se olhava, lá estava um belo mullet, usado por quem queria aparecer antenado om as tendências da moda.
Na turnê de Bowie levando a persona era comum ver muita gente indo ao show com o corte, cabelos alaranjados e maquiagem pálida.

Ziggy Stardust tinha uma missão. Aparecia em um mundo pré apocalíptico, enfrentando problemas com a falta de recursos naturais. O estresse reinante fazia com que os adultos começassem a “perder o contato com a realidade” enquanto jovens parassem de se interessar pelo rock’n’roll, até porquê não haveria eletricidade para escutá-lo. Em pouco tempo, Ziggy Stardust começaria a ser adorado como um novo messias, um deus alienígena, pela sua massa de fãs.
David Bowie colocava então sua genialidade na futurologia. Cinquenta anos depois, o que mais vemos e experimentamos diariamente é a perda da noção do que realmente é real. A intenção de Bowie era criticar a idolatria com os quais os artistas eram tratados, o que realmente aconteceu com a persona Ziggy Stardust.
Ziggy Stardust não é o primeiro personagem de Bowie
Apesar de ser de longe o mais famoso, Ziggy Stardust não é o primeiro personagem criado por Bowie para os palcos. Em 1970, por exemplo, apresentou-se como Harry, the Butcher em sua turnê com a banda de apoio Hype. Bowie também usou o nome de Rainbowman, usando roupas e botas brilhantes e coloridas, desenhadas com a intenção de fugir da estética “jeans e camiseta” que os rockstars usavam na época. Os shows até então eram pequenos e sem muito sucesso de público, mas são considerados como o momento de criação do Glam Rock.

Em 1973, um ano após a criação de Ziggy Stardust, Bowie se tornou o maior vendedor de ingressos da Inglaterra. Seus números, na história da música britânica, perdiam apenas para os Beatles.
O culto a Ziggy Stardust foi muito comparado pela imprensa inglesa com a beatlemania. Fãs estéricos, vestidos como o ídolo e o acompanhando nos shows. Icônico e muito interessante, já que a concepção da persona foi justamente para denunciar uma crítica à idolatria.
Um disco lendário
Quando a imprensa descobriu que o ensaio de fotos para a capa de Ziggy Stardust foram feitas no edifício Crown State, a prefeitura mandou fazer uma placa para celebrar o fato histórico. A homenagem, vejam só, não foram para Bowie, mas para Ziggy Stardust. Um dos poucos casos em que um personagem fictício ganhou uma placa no Reino Unido.

After the Urban Sun project, which offers a technological and iconic solution to counteract the social isolation of people due to the pandemic, conceived by Daan Roosegaarde’s team together with external experts and scientists from the Netherlands, the United States, Japan, and Italy, here is a new installation. This is the first work the artist and innovator has created in Italy.
Liquid Landscape is part of Arte Sella. The contemporary mountain, a contemporary art museum in Trentino-Alto Adige, more precisely in the garden of Villa Strobele in Val di Sella. Arte Sella was born in an experimental form in 1986, when a group of friends living in Borgo Valsugana wanted to create a reality that combined contemporary art and nature. The aim was to protect and reinterpret nature. As the founders write, they wanted to give nature the role of the leading interpreter, because: “the artist is not the absolute protagonist of the work of art but accepts that nature completes his work”.
Daan Roosegaarde’s work Liquid Landscape also respects these guidelines, particularly the fact that in this context, the works, preferably constructed with natural materials, “leave the landscape, only to return to nature”. Indeed, the Dutch artist was asked to “create something with a challenging structure: no use of electricity, no use of artificial light, low maintenance, robust for decades, but interactive for people.”
At first glance it looks like a small dune or a Dutch dyke, but everything changes the moment you step on it: the lawn becomes a liquid landscape, the surface starts to move and slight ripples form in the grass. Covering 50 m2, this work of art is composed as a carefully designed collage of local soil and water, embedded in the ground and covered with a custom-made flexible container of nutrients and grass. As more visitors walk through or step on the artwork the ripples become more and more vibrant, as if to symbolise the ecological footprint.
As is his custom, Daan Roosegaarde has proposed a playful approach to one of the most important challenges of our era: the climate crisis. Indeed, it is precisely in the context of the mountain, solid and reassuring, where the succession of seasons dictates the rhythm of life, that Liquid Landscape presents a disruption and, despite its static appearance, hides a constantly changing soul. All this can only be perceived by walking on it, directly experiencing the unexpected fluid, almost surreal movement of the grassy landscape. In short, to understand what is hidden in this work of art, the involvement of visitors is fundamental and interaction is a must. In other words, without a conscious act it is impossible to appreciate Roosegaarde’s liquid landscape, as it only becomes such when you experience it, as Emanuele Montibeller, curator of Arte Sella, explains. Thus the analogy with climate change becomes evident and, like a call to action, Liquid Landscape inspires us to rethink our relationship with nature. And not only that, it also helps to better understand our impact on the Earth, as is well documented by the video of the installation filmed in the beautiful natural setting of the Val di Sella.

After the Urban Sun project, which offers a technological and iconic solution to counteract the social isolation of people due to the pandemic, conceived by Daan Roosegaarde’s team together with external experts and scientists from the Netherlands, the United States, Japan, and Italy, here is a new installation. This is the first work the artist and innovator has created in Italy.
Liquid Landscape is part of Arte Sella. The contemporary mountain, a contemporary art museum in Trentino-Alto Adige, more precisely in the garden of Villa Strobele in Val di Sella. Arte Sella was born in an experimental form in 1986, when a group of friends living in Borgo Valsugana wanted to create a reality that combined contemporary art and nature. The aim was to protect and reinterpret nature. As the founders write, they wanted to give nature the role of the leading interpreter, because: “the artist is not the absolute protagonist of the work of art but accepts that nature completes his work”.
Daan Roosegaarde’s work Liquid Landscape also respects these guidelines, particularly the fact that in this context, the works, preferably constructed with natural materials, “leave the landscape, only to return to nature”. Indeed, the Dutch artist was asked to “create something with a challenging structure: no use of electricity, no use of artificial light, low maintenance, robust for decades, but interactive for people.”
At first glance it looks like a small dune or a Dutch dyke, but everything changes the moment you step on it: the lawn becomes a liquid landscape, the surface starts to move and slight ripples form in the grass. Covering 50 m2, this work of art is composed as a carefully designed collage of local soil and water, embedded in the ground and covered with a custom-made flexible container of nutrients and grass. As more visitors walk through or step on the artwork the ripples become more and more vibrant, as if to symbolise the ecological footprint.
As is his custom, Daan Roosegaarde has proposed a playful approach to one of the most important challenges of our era: the climate crisis. Indeed, it is precisely in the context of the mountain, solid and reassuring, where the succession of seasons dictates the rhythm of life, that Liquid Landscape presents a disruption and, despite its static appearance, hides a constantly changing soul. All this can only be perceived by walking on it, directly experiencing the unexpected fluid, almost surreal movement of the grassy landscape. In short, to understand what is hidden in this work of art, the involvement of visitors is fundamental and interaction is a must. In other words, without a conscious act it is impossible to appreciate Roosegaarde’s liquid landscape, as it only becomes such when you experience it, as Emanuele Montibeller, curator of Arte Sella, explains. Thus the analogy with climate change becomes evident and, like a call to action, Liquid Landscape inspires us to rethink our relationship with nature. And not only that, it also helps to better understand our impact on the Earth, as is well documented by the video of the installation filmed in the beautiful natural setting of the Val di Sella.

“We wanted to establish a way to build scaled wood-frame specimens that would behave, and ultimately fail, under wave loading like their full-scale counterparts have been observed to,” said Sean Duncan, who led the study as a graduate research assistant with the Oregon State College of Engineering. “And we also set out to develop an equation that could predict the distribution of the uplift pressure on elevated structures. We were able to accomplish both of those goals.”
One of the model structures was elevated — built so that the living areas would be off the ground — and the other was “on grade,” or on the ground. As the researchers expected, the on-grade model couldn’t withstand water levels as high as the raised one, and both sustained damage in ways consistent with what was seen in real residential structures during Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and Hurricane Ike in 2008.
The research by Duncan, OSU colleagues Dan Cox, Andre Barbosa and Pedro Lomonaco and collaborators from the University of Hawaii and the University of California, Berkeley, also showed that a remote sensing method known as LiDAR could track the models’ damage progression as the waves and storm surges increased in intensity.
The models were built to one-sixth scale, with strength and stiffness on par with real residences such as those hit by Hurricane Sandy in Ortley Beach, New Jersey, and by Hurricane Ike on Texas’ Bolivar Peninsula. Each of those storms caused extensive damage, which focused greater attention on coastal communities’ vulnerability to waves and storm surges, and on learning more about how to design and construct storm-resistant homes, Duncan said.
“Populations in those types of communities are rising, and so are sea levels,” said Duncan, now a ports and marine engineer with WSP USA in Federal Way, Washington. “That means risk associated with hurricanes is rising too, especially because research indicates hurricanes are increasing in intensity and will continue to do so. That’s why it’s so important to understand the forces these storms generate and how coastal structures respond, so planners and the construction industry can work together to mitigate the potential damage from these very likely, very potent storms.”
Placed on a simulated coastline in the Directional Wave Basin at the O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory, the models experienced waves and water depths replicating conditions of Hurricane Sandy. The basin is 48.8 meters long, 26.5 meters wide and just over 2 meters deep, and multiple instruments measured the hydrodynamic loads.
Vertical forces on the elevated specimen were shown to correlate with wave height, air gap and water depth, Duncan said, with the forces peaking in the deepest water at maximum submergence.
“Uplift pressure is also affected by how and where the waves break,” he said. “Waves that broke right on the specimens generally caused bigger vertical forces. And the predictive equation we developed, based on wave height and air gap, is valid for a range of structure length to wavelength ratios, wave heights, air gaps and water depths.”
Air gap refers to the elevation of the bottom of the lowest horizontal member, or LHM, of an elevated structure relative to the still water level.
Findings were published in Coastal Engineering, and the research was supported by Department of Homeland Security and the National Science Foundation.

Siti archeologici, capolavori Unesco, castelli, fortificazioni, parchi: tutti spunti di Visit Brescia per insoliti itinerari primaverili en plein air in città e nella sua provincia, marcate da architetture e testimonianze storico artistiche che vanno dalla Preistoria all’arte contemporanea; un’occasione insomma per trascorrere delle giornate all’aperto, con piacevoli passeggiate tra arte e storia, alla scoperta di tesori forse inattesi. Tra i tanti esempi, merita così sicuramente citare il piacere di camminare fra boschi e prati, leggendo il più straordinario racconto del mondo preistorico finora scoperto al mondo: le incisioni rupestri istoriate su oltre 2 mila rocce della valle Camonica, nota come la valle dei Segni, sono uniche per numero e importanza, tanto che già nel 1979 l’Unesco le ha dichiarate (primo sito italiano) Patrimonio dell’Umanità. Oltre 200 mila le incisioni catalogate e distribuite in ben 180 siti di 24 comuni, eseguite in un arco di tempo di oltre 12 mila anni, dal Paleolitico al periodo Romano. Vi si legge la storia di un popolo, che potrebbe essere emblematicamente considerata la storia della civiltà europea: una giornata, o ancor meglio un week end, alla loro scoperta può essere quindi uno straordinario viaggio nel nostro passato, piacevole e istruttivo per grandi e bambini. Negli otto parchi archeologici dedicati, una chiara cartellonistica consente di districarsi in questo fantastico e complesso linguaggio figurato su massi di varie forme e dimensioni (alcuni raggiungono i 50 metri e raccolgono fino a 100 figure).
Ma come si diceva la provincia di Brescia, dai monti della stessa valle Camonica alle sponde del lago di Garda, è punteggiata da una fitta rete di imponenti castelli e fortificazioni che ne difendevano un tempo il territorio. Molti di essi, ricchi di preziosi arredi e immersi in una natura rigogliosa e in antichi parchi, aprono le loro porte per visite ed eventi. Anche qui un esempio su tutti: emblema stesso di Brescia, il castello domina la città dall’alto del colle Cidneo, sulle cui pendici si arrampica il più grande vigneto cittadino d’Europa. E’ una delle fortezze più imponenti e meglio conservate d’Italia. Oltre il monumentale portale d’ingresso si apre una vera a propria cittadella, con possenti edifici immersi in un’oasi di verde, dove passeggiare in relax fra giardini, belvedere, bastioni da cui si gode una vista ineguagliabile. Merita una visita anche il museo delle armi Luigi Marzoli: una delle più importanti raccolte europee di armi e armature antiche, ospitato nel mastio Visconteo. I più avventurosi si possono poi inoltrare anche in cunicoli e sotterranei, prenotando una visita guidata con l’Associazione Brescia Underground.
